About this event
Gordon retired from AT&T in 1987. He then started a business designing trade shows and high-end conferences. He retired from the business in 2007. At that time he needed a hobby, discovered Diablo Woodworkers and got hooked on woodworking. After classes, and some of the skills he learned in building sets for trade shows, he was asked if he wanted to teach a wood shop class. He taught for 14 years. All the while he learned cabinet-making skills and started his cabinet shop. He has a few custom kitchens under his belt; however in his 80s those have become heavier than they used to be.
In 2004 he designed and built his shop. It is a relatively small shop at 600 square feet. The City drew the line at something larger. He still builds cabinets, but no large projects.
Most of his power tools come from Grizzly. Most of my projects are light for me to handle and fun for me to work on.
He still teaches at Pleasant Hill Adult Ed woodworking classes, or TA for the fun of seeing others learn and grow. You won't see any dog and pony show at this Open Shop, just Gordon and his dog named Bailey.
